Livestock Division

The Livestock Division is dedicated to developing and managing Tonga’s livestock sector through sustainable farming practices, animal health programs, and capacity-building for farmers. Its mission is to ensure food security, improve rural livelihoods, and promote safe and productive animal husbandry across the Kingdom.

Our Core Functions

  • Develop and implement livestock production policies and strategies.
  • Promote sustainable livestock breeding and nutrition practices.
  • Provide animal health services and disease surveillance programs.
  • Support farmers through training and technical assistance.
  • Facilitate research and data collection for livestock development.

Recent Achievements

  • Launched the National Livestock Health Program 2025.
  • Established artificial insemination facilities to improve breeding stock.
  • Partnered with FAO to strengthen disease surveillance and vaccination campaigns.
